Falconry
and Hawking
Enjoy a day's introductory
course learning the basics of falconry. Master
Falconer David Scott (with the aid of a Harris
hawk) will give an informative talk in the library
on the history of falconry and how to keep and
train a bird of prey, giving an insight into
the possibility of owning one of these fascinating
raptors.
A short break for a hearty rustic lunch and
then you will have the opportunity to fly a
Harris hawk to your fist at a nearby farm. Experience
the bird's power on take off and the lightest
of landings on return, feel the bird's legendary
grip whilst being protected by the falconer's
glove.
Courses available all year round, on the last
Saturday of the month.
As a spectator, during hunting season (1st
September - 1st February) watch the awesome
speed and agility of the Peregrine Falcon as
it hunts it's prey. 2 to 6 persons.
Hone your fishing skills
on the beautiful Kennick Reservoir near Bovey
Tracey with our professional guide and tutor.
A day's fishing to include tuition, all equipment,
permits, boat and rod hire.
Our fishing tutor will pick you up from the
hotel, provide eight hours fishing and drive
you back to the hotel. A packed lunch can be
supplied for £15 per person. The reservoir
is stocked with both brown and rainbow trout
and, for the non-fishing partners, there are
good picknicking areas on the shore.
