Britannia Shellfish was established in 1995 by fisherman Nick Hutchings and his wife Anita. Nick is from a long established fishing family and has been fishing in and around Start Bay all his life. His knowledge and experience have been handed down through the generations and Nick soon recognised the necessity to provide a consistent supply of fish/shellfish even through periods of adverse weather. This is where the idea of building the live holding tanks evolved from.

Due to our unique location, fresh seawater is easily accessible and allows safe storage of crab, lobster and scallops, in optimum condition, keeping it lively and fresh until dispatch.
