“Five Star Treatment”

Spent an overnight at the Royal Castle enjoying a ‘Special Sunday Celebration’ package, with our best mates. Treated very specially from the moment we left the car outside of the hotel (car moved to the carpark as part of the service). Friendly greeting at reception and shown to the river view rooms, very spacious clean with wonderful views across the river to Kingswear. Dinner consisted of a carvery with a choice of starters and four succulent meats with vegetarian/fish options, followed by mouthwatering desserts. The brioche and chocolate pudding was to die for! Excellent choice of reasonably priced wines, the Sharpham grand reserve is recommended (and produced locally!!). Excellent breakfast from muesli to full English and real orange juice. First class service from friendly staff, right up to the time when my car was returned from the car park. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who looks for something special, thank you Royal Castle. I am sure we will be back in the future. Alan & Josie Thorne
“Didn’t think bargains really existed!!”

Myself and my husband have just enjoyed a Sunday night Celebration Package at this lovely hotel for £115. An amazing bargain. We had flowers, chocolates, 3 course dinner and bed and breakfast. All of the food was delicious, we had a carvery but there were also other options. The desserts were gorgeous and a help-yourself system. We found all the staff really friendly and helpful. Just couldn’t fault anything! Had a good nights sleep in room 25, a family room right up on the 4th floor which I knew would be quiet. I also knew beforehand that there is no lift and in fact quite happy to be getting some exercise with all the delicious food. A gorgeous experience.

I can really recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to travel to Devon. We stayed here for a couple of nights in August. The food was excellent and the service could not have been better. The hotel looks out onto the river Dart so the front rooms have amazing views. We will definitely return in the future.
